In a tweet, Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawaris has offered to buy a Greek or Italian Island for Syrian refugees.
He told AFP news agency that he thought it was “feasible.”
“You have dozens of islands which are deserted and could accommodate hundreds of thousands of refugees.”
He added that there would be
“Temporary shelters to house the people, then you start employing the people to build housing, schools, universities, hospitals.
“And if things improve, whoever wants to go back (to their homeland) goes back,”
It’s a great idea but now he has to convince a country to sell him an island big enough for the task. Maybe it could help Greece reduce some of its debt?
