RIYADH (Reuters) – At least 107 people were killed when a crane toppled over at Mecca’s Grand Mosque on Friday, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence authority said, less than two weeks before Islam’s annual haj pilgrimage.
Due to heavy rain and wind one of the cranes next to Masjid Al Haram tumbled over and hit the area around which the pilgrims perform tawaf, next to the Kabah which over 1.6 billion face towards 5 times a day to complete there congregational prayers.

These brothers and sisters have gained such a high status that there souls were taken - On Jumuah Day - Between Asr & Maghreb - In the Harram - While intending to complete Umrāh & Hajj - They will be buried in Madinah - Granted the status of Martyr per the hadith in Sahih Muslim
بينما رجل يمشي بطريق وجد غصن شوك على الطريق فأخّره فشكر الله له وقال: الشهداء خمسة: المطعون والمبطون والغرق وصاحب الهدم والشهيد في سبيل الله عز وجلّ
“A man walking along the road found a thorn-branch in the road and removed it. Allah was grateful to him and forgave him. He (saw) said: The martyrs (shuhadaa) are five: (al-mat’un), (al-mabtun), the drowned one, the one who died in a collapsed (building) and the shaheed in the way of Allah ‘azza wa jalla.”
- They will be prayed upon by millions who have come to do Hajj
- And on top of all that, being resurrected in the state that they died, worshiping Allāh at His house, Allāhu Akbar what an honorable death.
May Allah accept from them and have mercy on them and give patience to their families and loved ones.
